- Dear Everyone,
-
- I recently bought 2 Supras External 28.8 Faxmodems (not SupraExpress) and
- have had insurmontable problems. Both seem to be stuck in Flash Mode. The
- TR light sometimes comes on even though I'm not online, and the Flasher
- utilities do not recognise the modem and can't flash the Flash ROM even.
-
- The manual says that if the TR light is on, it may be that the modem was
- bumped into flash mode and therefore is expecting new FlashRom info. Well,
- no go!
-
- Needless to say, the modem also refused to work under OS/2, DOS/Win or
- Win95. Initially, it was recognised under Win95 but after a couple of hours,
- it just stopped working. Now, if I remove the Supra drivers under Modems in
- Win95 and attempt a AddNewHardware, it does not get detected any more. I
- really suspect the ROM has gone.
-
- Supra technical support tells me it has to go in for repairs. That's a very
- costly proposition for me here in Singapore.
-
- The million dollar question I have is, is there any way to force a Flash
- upgrade even though the Flasher utility does not recognise/find the modem?
- Can a particular sequence/file be just forced through Com2?
-
- The exact same thing has happened to a SECOND Supra, and I'm left wondering,
- is this a design flaw of the Supra, or have I just been unlucky?
-
- I would really appreciate all comments/suggestions etc.
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
